I don't know Perl well enough to write it, and I can just barely read
it, i.e., make out what it is supposed to mean.
I like Python a lot, and use it almost every day. I am glad you prefer
it, too, just like me.
I think we don't need to go for a pure-ANSI-C system.
I think rewriting the programs in Python will be good in the long run,
especially if the scripts need maintenance by someone not well versed in
Perl, such as myself :-).
Btw, I deciphered the Perl programs enough to write short descriptions
in the acopost.7 man page for all of them. You might find the
descriptions useful if you want to see the interrelations between some
of the more obscure ones, such as lex2theta.pl and mean-and-sd.pl.
