Re: cmdline "irqpoll" workaround
Yes, the disadvantage is that it will suck up some CPU
because upon detecting a mis-routed irq, it will poll
all the shared interrupt handlers in the system.

also, "irqpoll" appears to work for me only in "noapic" PIC mode --
though i'm not sure why that behaves differently from IOAPIC mode.

Re: IRQ 9
I booted a Windows 2000 drive on the 5150 and ACPI
came up on IRQ9 and the button worked as expected.
Since here the OS pre-dates the hardware, this means
it is unlikely that XP ships with some special workaround
that fixes some quirk on this box.  If Win2K can figure
it out, surely Linux can too...

So it appears that on Linux the ACPI interrupt isn't coming
out on IRQ9, but perhaps is going elswhere.  Need to find out
where and why...
