Hm. I tried 2.6.16-rc5 on MSI RS482M-IL (a radeon express 200) with a 
AMD Sempron 3000+ in i386 mode. The kernel was compiled to use the K8.

The timer runs twice as fast.

I am still confused. Is the patch working only for x86_64 ?
