The minimum necessary pool_size is probably 2. However, this number is just a limit on the number of threads which are created dynamically, and so it should never be reached on a well functioning system. There's no reason you shouldn't make it 99999, UNLESS you have some other ACPI bug which prevents the control methods from terminating properly. In that case a modest limit should prevent ACPI from using all your CPU time.
