Summary: Long resume time from s2ram, touchpad may not work
                    properly
    Kernel Version: 2.6.18
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
             Owner: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
         Submitter: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Most recent kernel where this bug did *NOT* occur: 2.6.12
Distribution: Debian Testing (Etch)
Hardware Environment: Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop
Software Environment: KDE
Problem Description: Resume from s2ram takes anywhere from 50s to 1mi, during
that time the screen is blank with flashing cursor in the top left-hand corner.
At the end, the screen flashes briefly, goes completely dark twice, and the
system is finally resumed. Sometimes synaptics touchpad does not work after
resume (not responding to tapping, no scrolling features) but thebuttons at the
bottom of the touchpad do.

ACPI gives the following error messages on resume from s2ram.

> Dec 18 17:09:01 mars kernel: ACPI: read EC, IB not empty
> Dec 18 17:09:01 mars kernel: ACPI: read EC, OB not full
> Dec 18 17:09:01 mars kernel: ACPI Exception (evregion-0424): AE_TIME,
Returned

> Dec 18 17:09:01 mars kernel: ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method

> Dec 18 17:09:01 mars kernel: ACPI Exception (acpi_battery-0206): AE_TIME,
> Evaluating _BST [20060707]

There is no problem with standby mode (quick and clear resume and so on). and
stanby looks just the same as suspend to ram: stopped disks, blinking "power"
LED etc.

Steps to reproduce: as root, run "s2ram -f" command. Different ACPI options
make no difference.
