So, my machine doesn't support S1, eh?  Why is it that Windows XP "does the
right thing" and always suspends when I close the lid and resumes when I open
it?  It's been a while since I looked into this problem and I have lost the
thread of the discussion.  I am running Ubuntu Gutsy now, and am back to the
"only suspends on every other attempt" behavior.
