Summary: DVD writer not detected when ACPI is on Product: ACPI Version: 2.5 KernelVersion: 2.6.23-rc4 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Tree: Mainline Status: NEW Severity: high Priority: P1 Component: Other AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: Unknown, tested with 2.6.18, 2.6.21, 2.6.22.5, it's in all of them. Distribution: Debian Testing Hardware Environment: Zepto Znote 6025WD, Intel Santa Rosa-based laptop (ICH8) Software Environment: Debian Testing Problem Description: The laptop has an internal DVD writer (a TSST SN-S082H) which does not get detected by the kernel unless I boot it with acpi=off. If I do that it appears as /dev/scd0 and is perfectly usable. I have reported this to the Debian bug tracker, and they asked me to report it here, which I am now doing after confirming it with the latest kernel from kernel.org. I also tried the boot options suggested in the dmesg output (acpi_apic_instance=2, acpi_osi=Linux, pci=routeirq), none of them made any difference. Steps to reproduce: Boot kernel without any ACPI options - no DVD. Boot with acpi=off - DVD detected and working. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
