Summary: cpuinfo says wrong speed
Product: ACPI
Version: 2.5
KernelVersion: 2.6.22
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Tree: Mainline
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: P1
Component: Config-Processors
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: 2.6.22
Distribution: Gentoo
Hardware Environment: Intel E4300, Asus P5KC
Software Environment:
Problem Description: I run the CPU out of its specification at 3GHz. When I
load acpi_cpufreq /proc/cpuinfo shows the wrong speed. It shows 1,8 GHz which
would be the CPU's normal speed at a FSB of 200 MHz (but I'm running 333 MHz).
Without acpi_cpufreq loaded cpuinfo says the correct speed of 3 GHz. I also
benchmarked the CPU while acpi_cpufreq was loaded. It definetly runs at 3GHz.
Steps to reproduce:
# grep MHz /proc/cpuinfo
cpu MHz : 3005.555
cpu MHz : 3005.555
# modprobe acpi_cpufreq
# grep MHz /proc/cpuinfo
cpu MHz : 1800.000
cpu MHz : 1800.000
