APIC - Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller
is different from
ACPI - Advanced Configuration and Powermanagement Interface

Though sometimes the later is needed to properly configure the former,
sometimes the APIC can also be enumerated by MPS (Multi-processor Spec).

do you still have this problem when you try to boot with "acpi=off"?

Are there any BIOS options related to the IO-APIC?
What if you boot with "noapic" or "nolapic"?
