ok, it fixed my problem (well, apparently i got back the old behaviour which is
good enough for me). consider updating Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt
because right now it only says:

        libata.noacpi   [LIBATA] Disables use of ACPI in libata suspend/resume
                        when set.
                        Format: <int>

i.e., no mention of boot problems.
