That way, any other use of acpi=force or acpi=off are not effected. of course, building the kernel with CONFIG_ACPI_BLACKLIST_YEAR=n is also an option. But that doesn't help when running a distribution. I recommend that distributions use CONFIG_ACPI_BLACKLIST_YEAR=1999 re: patch in comment #128 this one has potential.
