The bug appears even with Windows XP/Vista if the ACER tools are not installed. The problem seems to come from a non-standard hardware and is NOT a bug in the 64-bit linux kernel. I tried to hack some code in the ACPI module, I tried to update my BIOS, I tried to play with the DSTD.
