To make sure that processor.max_cstate setting worked: with the setting you
should not see C3 (or C2 and C3 for max_cstate=1) in the above cpuidle output.


For sysrq, enable MAGIC_SYSRQ in your config and enable sysrq by
# echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq

Then you can use commands in Documentation/sysrq.txt by pressing magic key
storke or by 
echo t > /proc/sysrq-trigger
