You're wrong.
Many hardware/BIOS are released without any tests under Linux. They are thought
to be working if they runs well in Windows, even if it's actually broken
(violate the hardware spec, etc).
We've spent a lot of time on this kind of bugs in Linux.
But this one is too old and I'm afraid no one is working on APM any more.
