Thanks for the confirm. It seems that it is a very old BIOS.(10/23/03). I
am not sure whether ACPI is supported very well on this laptop.
At the same time I see the following info from

Maybe this issue is related with the hardware/BIOS. But as this is a very
old machine model, maybe there is no available BIOS to be upgraded.
Poor hardware, poor people.
