          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
              Tree: Mainline
            Status: NEW
          Severity: high
          Priority: P1
         Component: Power-Other
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Latest working kernel version: 2.6.21.5 (maybe other, but not tested)

Earliest failing kernel version: 2.6.24.5 (maybe other, but not tested)

Distribution: Slackware

Hardware Environment: Asus M51TR-AP003C notebook:
CPU: AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-80 (2.1 GHz)
Chipset: AMD 780G (Puma platform)
RAM: 3GB
Hybrid Graphics: Mobility Radeon HD 3400 and Radeon HD 3200

Software Environment: standard Slackware 12.1 software

Problem Description:

Can't boot Linux with ACPI - kernel freezes.
Some system messages before system freezes:

And here system stops.

Linux can boot normally with "acpi=off" option, but there is a warning message
in dmesg:

powernow-k8: Your BIOS does not provide ACPI _PSS objects in a way that Linux
understands. Please report this to the Linux ACPI maintainers and complain to
your BIOS vendor.

My AMI BIOS version is from July 2008.

Steps to reproduce:
Launch 2.6.26.x or 2.6.27-rcx kernel with ACPI on Asus M51TR notebook.
