I've been plagued with this problem for a significant amount of time on a
system with the following hardware. It hasn't caused any data loss (as far as I
know) and is most certainly an annoyance if anything else. However, it seems
(through informal testing) that disk and network IO performance is being
hindered by it.

MB: Thunder HEsl (S2567)
Proc: Dual PIII @ 1GHz

Note: The chipset is not from SiS.
