If we know what the proper quirks are to fix some machines
and not break other machines, we generally ship them.

However, the quirk in comment #33 appears to be exactly the
patch that was reverted in bug 7264.

Did we fail to close the loop on this and produce a quirk that
helps some thinkpads without breaking others?
What is the current state of the upstream kernel on the
hardware in question?
