I have not noticed any other regression (with/without hpet=force). Only thing I know since a long time is that local apic (which is disabled by BIOS and when enabled with lapic cmdline option) causes S3 suspend/resume to fail. But this one is most probably unrelated/offtopic. Adding lacpi cmdline option does not change hang behavior either.
