I'm using Ubuntu with kernel 2.6.28-11-generic and have this issue.
I've tried reverting the suggested patch above (comment #5) and adding the
extra debug in comment #3 - I've enabled CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG=y but still don't
get anything ACPI related in the dmesg output.
Will add the output of lspci as requested.
