So you don't need to comment here because backlight issues are always HARDWARE DEPENDENT. The problem on your laptops is quite different and your comments always make me confused. :p Kyle, I run out of my ideas about this. It seems that Linux/ACPI video driver is working normal. It invokes the firmware code to change the backlight, but unfortunately this fails. It doesn't look like a software problem to me. Is there a windows partition on this laptop?
