>From what I have read, this may be at least part of the reason I am unable to
control the LCD backlight brightness on this laptop from within the graphical
desktop environment. I am able to control the brightness from the console and
set the brightness with xbacklight from within my .xinitrc. I have not yet
encountered any other problems resulting from this bug.
