As he continued to write about the problem I found this bugreport here and posted post #30 As it turned out the chap didn't follow my instructions which we found out later when someone else posted that updating the BIOS solved the problem for him. So we finally got the guy with the alleged regression to update his BIOS and all was fine using the acpi.power_nocheck option. @Brice: Could you make sure you're running the latest BIOS?
