Ok I finished a fresh bisect (feeding in the skip/good/bad from the
path-restricted one). Unfortunately I have got a nonsensical result:

I'm going to have to go back and carefully check all the steps.  One possible
problem (apart from me falling asleep at the keyboard and mistakenly
classifying a step, perhaps) is that there are two categories of commit that I
had to skip: ones that would not resume from suspend at all, and ones which
would not compile.  It occurs to me that the latter were mostly in a module
(edac I think) which is probably not relevant, and by tweaking my config I
could probably eliminate those.
