Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9550
(model 0x17) is too old to be supported by the intel_idle driver.

That said, the presence of intel_idle driver support would
have nothing to do with intermittent boot issues.  Ubuntu
supports acpi_idle, which should work just fine.

Please attach the full output from dmesg
and the full output from dmidecode

Please describe the actual failure in more detail.
