By the way, Linux 3.19 from Debian experimental booted fine with the *vendor*
firmware.

Francis, your second paragraph in comment #15 was not helpful. The reason is
simple, you didn’t test it. The intention was certainly not to break old
hardware. Commits just cannot be tested on every device.
