Actually one day it just suddenly worked. It seems to be a common problem with
lenovo laptops: http://www.theforcefield.net/forums/index.php?topic=7774.0
I can not fully comment yet on the accuracy of the power indicator, as it seems
to be completely off compared to the battery indicator of a macbook pro - but
at least it is showing "fully charged" now.
