Bug ID: 104611
Summary: Suspend and shutdown hang on Macbook Pro 11,5
Product: ACPI
Version: 2.5
Kernel Version: 4.2.0-040200-generic #201508301530 SMP Sun Aug 30
19:31:40 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Tree: Mainline
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: Power-Sleep-Wake
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Regression: No
As discussed in [1] and [2], the Macbook Pro 11,5 [3] cannot shutdown or
suspend/resume. Only reboot seems to be working. Upon shutdown/suspend, the
display will turn off but the system remains running (although unresponsive).
Forcing a hard reboot with the power button is the only solution to bring the
laptop back to live.
According to [1], this problem also occurs on linux-image-3.19.0-25.
I would like to help out to fix this problem since it affects multiple users
but, although I have been using linux for many years, debugging kernel problems
is something new to me.
