If you really need to block the EC GPE to cool your machine down (this is so
doubtful) while still have the EC GPE handled.
There is a facility for you to try.

Applying the following patches:

https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9099271/
After booting, you could type:
echo "force-poll" > /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe4E

This can put the EC driver into the polling mode so that you can still suspend
the system by closing lid.
