Latest acpi spec explicitly states it's optional, so if my laptop lacks it I
don't see what's the problem. 

...While we are at it then, there's a great talking lately about
dissimilarities between Windows and Linux acpi handling. 
Did somebody check if even brightness control behavior matches?

Because I know lots of cases of people (including me) with oddities and
