Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but I confirm I have exactly the same
problem on the very new HP ENVY x360 15-ds0005 (Ryzen 7 3700U machine).
I was able to boot with the only one kernel 4.15.0 (stock kernel from Ubuntu
18.04), using "nolapic acpi=off".
Other kernels [from Ubuntu 16.04, 17.10, 19.04, 19.10nightly] with those same
parameters keep failing to boot further in the boot process.
Please let me know should I provide an further info/details.
Note: I will be most probably returning the machine for refund within approx.
1,5 weeks :-/
