Bug ID: 209141 Summary: DPC/AER kernel message is misleading in FW first mode Product: ACPI Version: 2.5 Kernel Version: 5.8.0-rc1 Hardware: All OS: Linux Tree: Mainline Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P1 Component: Config-Hotplug Assignee: acpi_config-hotp...@kernel-bugs.osdl.org Reporter: david.ch...@hpe.com Regression: No There are issues in how the OS advertises control of DPC and AER. In firmware controlled DPC mode, the kernel log shows: [ 0.199999] acpi PNP0A08:01: _OSC: platform does not support [SHPCHotplug AER LTR] [ 0.200118] acpi PNP0A08:01: _OSC: OS now controls [PCIeHotplug PME PCIeCapability DPC] There are two problems with the above. 1) In line one, the OS log states the platform does not support AER. However, the platform does support AER. This kernel log statement is incorrect. 2) In line two, the OS log states the OS now controls DPC. This is not correct as the firmware owns/controls both DPC and AER. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching the assignee of the bug. _______________________________________________ acpi-bugzilla mailing list acpi-bugzilla@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/acpi-bugzilla
