Bug ID: 221562
Summary: [BUG] No internal microphone on ASUS VivoBook
X515DAP_D515DA (ALC256)
Product: ACPI
Version: 2.5
Hardware: AMD
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: Config-Tables
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Regression: No
The internal microphone captures pure silence on this motherboard. Everything
appears unmuted in ALSA/PipeWire, but no audio is captured.
Troubleshooting already completed:
1. Tested standard Realtek quirks: `alc256-asus-aio`, `laptop-amic`, and
`laptop-dmic`. None resolved the silence.
2. Verified it is not a phase cancellation issue (unbinding L/R channels still
results in zero input).
3. Attempted to force the AMD Digital Microphone using `snd_rn_pci_acp3x
dmic_acpi_check=1` and `snd_acp_config dmic_acpi_check=1`, but the device does
not enumerate in arecord -l.
4. Flashed the latest BIOS (v311) via ASUS EZ Flash to ensure ACPI tables are
up to date.
It appears the ACPI tables are either omitting the digital mic, or the DMI
string (X515DAP_D515DA) requires a specific routing patch for the AMD
ACP/Realtek codec.
