Log after a poweroff created by sudo journalctl -b -1 | grep -i
"halt\|power.off\|shutdown\|reboot"
My computer with Ubuntu server 26.04 never stay off, it always restart on it's
own.
Tried with 'sudo poweroff' and 'sudo shutdown -h now' and the physical button.
Later tried 'sudo halt' that causes a black screen where I had to poweroff with
the button
Hardware
- Motherboard: MSI MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI (MS-7D32)
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3090 (PCI ID: 0x2204)
- BIOS version: H.N0 (had an older version at first)
Software
- OS: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Kernels tested: 6.12.0-061200, 7.0.0-22
- nvidia driver: 595.71.05
What I tried:
- BIOS set to "Power Off" on AC loss
- ErP Ready enabled
- Wake-on-LAN disabled
- Kernel parameters tested: acpi=force, reboot=acpi, nomodeset
- nvidia-powerd disabled
- BIOS updated to latest (2026)
