I've been ripping my hair out trying to find rhyme and reason to why http://dotlessname will sometimes seemingly be interpreted as an Internet zone site, because of the FQDN that my OS uses when it resolves that name. I believe I theorized that if we removed the hostname from DNS and had it only registered in WINS, that would take care of it, but I think that XP machines will append a DNS suffix to the name regardless in a default configuration. Damn it. Maybe my theories as to why I get prompted in the intranet zone are wrong altogether though...
