Are you able to limit the browser a user is able to use to IE? If you are able to do so: I believe you can use a VB Function to hit the database. However: I cannot guarantee VB can read the values of the form objects without posting the form to the server. Perhaps some of the more knowledgeable people would be able to answer this However: I remember when I was doing ASP coding: Netscape was not able to call VB Functions, so this approach had to be avoided. I am not sure if Netscape has since changed (it has been about two years), or the capabilities of FireFox and other third party browsers. I hope this helps even a little bit Andy

Ahhh here in lies the problem... What I have now will work in a pinch (I HAVE to have this working by Friday... I don't know where to start to initiate something to run on the server without opening a window.. This is the direction I want to head because the window poping up is distracting to the entry person. How can I initiate something (function, sub, class, ???) on the server and pass some variables without opening a window from JavaScript???? > > From: Mark E <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: 2005/08/23 Tue AM 09:36:42 EDT > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [ASP] Initiating a function on the server from an ASP page???? > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Home : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/active-server-pages <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/active-server-pages> --------------------------------------------------------------------- Post : [email protected] Subscribe : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- _____ YAHOO!
