Hi all,
A4D 3.01b7/4D 2003/WebSTAR all on OS X.
I have a web site listing facilities at airports, and each web page is created on-the-fly by several searches in several different tables. I've tried to optimise things as much as possible, and now find that a page takes from three to five seconds to display. This is just about acceptable.
However, if I create a page of links to airport pages (in order to have web search engines crawl every one of the 2,000 airport pages), then I have a problem. When a robot/spider visits the site and requests multiple pages in rapid succession then the pages tend to error with a 'script timeout'.
For the time being I have increased the timeout setting to 90 seconds from the default 30 seconds, and this fixes things. But it makes 4D and all other web pages very slow during robot visitations.
I could run a 4D method every night to create static pages for every airport. This would doubtless cure the problem, but would mean that corrections on the database would only be published once a day.
I wonder if anyone has any other ideas.
Many thanks.
David Wright
