If the link to the document actually goes to an A4D process file then I can update a date field in their record to show when they downloaded, and send an email to alert us that they have done so. Then I can redirect back to their homepage. But somewhere in the process I need to initiate the download of the document (an Acrobat PDF file).

Sorry everyone, but the answer to this one was too simple for me to see it! Simply open the process file in a new window and redirect from there to the PDF file.
