Is anyone that uses ITK as there web server using the latest 2.6.1?

Last week I wrote about a problem I was having on my development web client that serves a4d pages where the ITK server processes get hung at startup. This morning the problem persists and has gotten worse to the point where I have to force kill and restart the Mac. I can't kill 4D Client from the process manager window. I can't even get back to the Finder. This isn't limited to the development Mac. I've replicated it other machines.

To review our setup:
Active 4D 3.0
4D Client 6.8.4 running on MacOS 10.2.8
4D Server 6.8.4 running on Win 2K Server
ITK 2.6.1

Anyway, thinking that there might be a plug-in corruption problem I downloaded the latest 2.6.1 (we've been running and developing with 2.6.1 b1) from Deep Sky Technologies.

I've run into a number of problems:
Under 4D Client the ITK commands are not recognized. This problem isn't limited to the Mac either. I've trashed .res and .rex, local (client) Mac4DX and Win4DX and confirmed that new copies of the plug-ins are being downloaded. Is it possible that the download from DST has the Mac and Windows versions mixed up?

Also, in 2.6.1 (on Windows) there are 2 new DLL files "LIBEAY32.DLL" and "SSLEAY32.DLL" that are part of ITK. The README for 2.6.1 says that these documents can simply be placed in the Win4DX folder, but I'm finding that they need to be elsewere like C:\WINNT or C:\WINDOWS, in order to not get any errors when 4D Client, 4D Mono, or 4D Server launches.

Any help or shared experience would be appreciated.
