One of our users called today and reported getting "400" errors when trying to submit a form in one of our Active4D pages. In this case they were pasting text from a Word document into the form. At first I thought it might be "weird" characters from Word, but had them save the document as plain text and retry. Same errors. We also checked that the text wasn't too large. It was only about 8K.

What was weird was that I couldn't replicate the errors from work. However, in testing from home I am getting the errors.

The error that is being sent back is is worded:

"400 Bad Request

The request was not properly formatted."

We use WebSTAR and proxy through Rewrite. I examined Webstar's /error/400.html file and it doesn't display this text.

I also looked at our ITK server code and don't see where this would be generated.

Aparajita, can you verify if Active4D is sending this back?

The reason I ask is that since it worked on site but not "from outside" it could be that there is a web proxy in place that might be malforming the request. If that is the case I need to pursue that avenue.

FWIW, the same user has been using this system for months and routinely cuts/pastes large text blocks from Word. This is the first time she's experienced this error.

Active4D 3.0
4D Client 6.8.4
MacOS 10.2.8
WebSTAR 5.3.4

Thanks,

Brad
