Jeff,
According to the docs Active4D will look for the key file in two places:
1. The same directory as the Active4D plugin
2. The System:Preferences folder on MacOS 9, the <User>/Library/
Preferences folder on Mac OS X, the Windows directory on Windows
95/98/XP, the directory on Windows NT/2000.
So you could try no. 2 to get round your problem.

I seem to be getting an error when i place the Active 4D key (the

The error reads: "An attempt has been made to read or write beyond
the end of a file . . {the Active 4D key path} The document
cannot be opened"
I have seen this sort of error when I have left a .sit file in the
mac4dx directory by mistake (after compressing a plugin to send).
The error comes when 4D is loading the plugins and comes across the
Active 4D key that it does not recognize as a plugin.
The error however is not manifest when using the same structure in
Client/Server mode.
Can anyone help me know where I should place the active 4d key so
that it will work but not generate the above error?
I use OSX 10.3.9 and 4D 2003.6
Thanks for your help,
Jeff Edwards
