Ignore this message. The safe dir doc was correctly set (safe doc dirs = <boot volume>/Images) but I had forgot to restart A4D to force it to take affect.
A restart of A4D should not be necessary. If the path is valid and the directory exists, just modifying Active4D.ini will cause the options to be re-read.
