I need to accept and authenticate a customer using a client side SSL certificate. Here is a link on how to do it with Apache. http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/ssl/ssl_howto.html
But obviously, I would like to stay in the 4D environment. 4D tech support and the NUG aren't seeming to provide me with much hope and was hoping someone here might be able to help me out. Is there any hope to support this natively with 4D's webserver? Any chance someone could write a plug-in that could add this functionality? Right now my options are looking like using Apache for my front end, and figuring out how to route the requests after authentication to 4D (how hard is that to do?), or buy one of Cisco's new firewalls which appear to have the capability to authenticate before passing the request onto the server, but that's going to cost over 5K to buy and configure. Any other ideas?
