Hi Steve

I am in the process of converting a site from ITK/4D 6.7 to 4D 2004 under 4D Client.

What problems are you having exactly ?

The site I'm converting runs flawlessly under 4D single user (including SSL) but I'm having problems getting it to work in 4D Client.

I think you need to have the 'Publish database at Startup' preference set in 4D Client specifically. The A4D demo also has the 'START WEB SERVER' command in the startup sequence but I'm not sure if this is essential or not if you have the preference set. Also check the 'Advanced' tab on the web preferences to see if you've got passwords switched off or not because 4D cares about what user you're logged on as otherwise.

The certificates need to be at the same level as 4D Client.app (/.exe). Do you have them in separate documents ? ('cert.pem', 'key.pem')

I just can't get it to serve certain 'Active' pages from the site and have yet to find out why. I've noticed that Active 4D's 'A4D Execute 4D request' sometimes returns a status '403', even though I've got passwords switched off on the "Advanced' web preferences and have 4D Client logged on as the default 'Web User'.

Also, I have a strange phenomenon where (under 4D Client only) where the web server throws the browser back to the home page after a 'redirect' is called (from the 'index.a4d' page) in a never ending cycle.

Sorry this is a bit vague but I am doing more tests tomorrow and will get to the bottom of the problem then. I'll post anything I find that might help.

Regards

Peter

Specs:

Web Server: 4D Client 2004 (x3)

Thank you. I may have to pick your brain privately since we must be missing something in trying to follow 4D's instructions. We have about the same configuration so I at least know it is possible.

I'm guessing it could have something to do with having the default port set to 8010 and the web sever not starting by default, but with the 4d Clients preference/key file.
