I have an input field type text and there inside is the € ( Euro) charakter. You can see it in the field when you enter it, but on the way to the form variables it becomes an asterix. (*). If I correct it in the database it will be displayed correct.

The encoding is ISO-Latin 1, but I also tried MacRoman.

You need to change the Content-Type in the page to:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-15" />

iso-8859-1 (Latin 1) does not define the Euro symbol, but 8859-15 was created to remedy that. 4D will not recognize the Euro character code (0x80) if the page charset is 8859-1.
