Now I´m not shure wich amount of traffic I can expect to handle. We have a xServe G5 (2X2,3 Ghz), 1GB memory, Mac OSX Server 10.39, active 4D version 4. The memory I need for the sessions should be small. How much traffic, concurrent users etc. is this machine capable of??
It all depends on the complexity of the web site. The more code that has to run, the less capacity. The machine is fast enough, although I would upgrade to OS X 10.4 and increase the memory to 2GB. The more memory available to 4D the more it can cache in memory.
Also, if you are serving a lot of static images, it pays to put apache in front of 4D and serve all static content from apache.
The question is, how much traffic do you expect?
