Hi all,

I wondered if anybody might have any thoughts on how best to implement a new strategy I'm considering...

We currently have a WebSTAR server for static files, and pages served by redirect from 4D Server 2004 on OSX using Active4D 4.0 (let's call it box 1), and plan to continue with this arrangement.

Now, alongside this, we would like to set up our own web search engine, spidering our specific database of domains and then providing a searchable web front end.

The size of the database (probably a million web pages plus) and the need to search in full text, probably means that we need to use the new indexing features of 4D V11 for speed.

So I plan to set up a new Intel Mac with lots of RAM, running a standalone version of 4D V11 as a spider and web server. I'll call this box 2.

I know that I will not be able to use Active4D on box 2 until there is a suitable version of the plugin, but I could presumably use 4D's own web tags (although I have no experience of this).

Ideally I would like to incorporate the search form and results pages from box 2 in the web pages served up by box 1.

Is this possible?

Many thanks and kind regards,

David Wright
