I've recently tried to secure a web application (inherited from another
developer) running on 4D Server 2004.2 and Active4D v4.0.2. Whenever I
try to access the site via https I get an IE message - "Internet
Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I requested the Cert.PEM certificate from the CACert.org certification
authority and have installed it along with the private key Key.PEM in
the same folder as the 4D application and have checked the Allow SSL for
Web Server option on the Web Server Publishing page in 4D's preferences
. The HTTPS port number is the default 443. I have ensured the NAT on
our router is set to forward port 443 to the relevant server, a MAC OSX
10.3.9 server.

I don't think it's related to my network setup or the forwarding of the
URL via my ISP and router to the server hosting the application. The
reason for this is that I have setup 2 tests, one with a simple 4D web
application serving web pages and the other with the Active4D demo
database. I've configured both of these applications as detailed above
and I can access them both fine using a https address and I can view the
certificate in the browser.

Are there any settings in a config file or any Active4D commands that
may be preventing the offending application from accepting requests via
SSL?

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this connection to the
problematic application would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance

Jon
