First thing I do when moving any project to V11 is switching to unicode!
And it is not just about the foreign characters, actually that is a
very minor part, but the new size limits of text and string variables,
natively handling all communication in unicode (The Internet is
becoming mostly unicode, as well as mail, and many other things).
It takes away a lot of pain in developmnt.
Oh, did I mention 2 GB Text variables?
Lest I forget: Full Text Index!

So unicode mode ein 4D is NOT (only) about communist character sets
