I have changed my whole project to utf-8.
For those looking to do the same, here is a script to make it easy:

Usage: convert_to_utf8.py <directory> <charset>
<directory> is the root of a directory that you want to recursively
convert.
<charset> is a python codec name of the platform charset of the files
(usually "mac_roman" on Macintosh or "cp1252" on Windows).
